Roll-N-Lock A-Series XT Tonneau Cover

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

Our Roll-N-Lock A-Series XT tonneau cover delivers instant truck bed access without sacrificing security. The retractable aluminum slat design rolls open and closed in seconds, locking automatically when latched. Each slat is powder-coated for corrosion resistance and UV stability, holding up to rain, snow, and highway speeds.

We designed the XT for drivers who need quick cargo access — construction pros, weekend haulers, and anyone tired of lifting heavy panels or wrestling with snaps. The low-profile rails sit flush with your bed rails, preserving truck aesthetics and bed height clearance. Installation uses a clamp-on rail system that requires no drilling, and the cover works with most over-the-rail bed liners and fifth-wheel hitches when positioned correctly.

Aluminum slat construction and frame design

We build the A-Series XT slats from extruded aluminum, each one interlocking along a continuous hinge that distributes tension evenly when the cover is closed. The powder-coat finish bonds directly to the aluminum surface, preventing chips and oxidation even in salt-heavy climates.

The side rails mount to your bed rails with adjustable clamps, letting you dial in tension and alignment without permanent hardware. End caps seal the front and rear of the rail assembly, while integrated drain channels route rainwater toward the tailgate instead of pooling on top of the slats. The same anodized-aluminum rail extrusion we use across our manual retractable covers ensures consistent fitment and long-term durability, regardless of which model you choose.

Locking system and security features

The cover locks automatically when you slide it forward and engage the front latch. A keyed cylinder at the tailgate end controls the latch release, preventing anyone from opening the cover without the key. We use a rotary tumbler lock that resists picking and corrosion.

When locked, the slats distribute load across the entire width of the bed, making it difficult to pry open from the sides. The interlocking hinge design means there are no external fasteners or exposed gaps for tools to wedge into. While the cover won’t stop a determined thief with power tools, it deters opportunistic theft and keeps casual passersby from accessing your cargo.

Installation process and bed compatibility

Clamp-on rail installation

Installation takes about 30 to 45 minutes with basic hand tools. You’ll position the side rails along the bed rails, adjust the clamps for square alignment, and tighten the mounting hardware. No drilling is required, and the rail clamps compress against the bed rail without damaging the paint.

Bed liner and accessory clearance

The XT works with most drop-in and spray-in bed liners, as well as over-the-rail liners like the BedRug. If you’re running a fifth-wheel hitch, verify that your hitch model allows at least 12 inches of clearance behind the cab — some gooseneck hitches sit too far forward for a retractable cover to open fully. We include detailed truck-specific fitment guides with every order to confirm compatibility before you install.

Easy install, perfect fit on my F-150
I installed this on my 2021 F-150 in about 40 minutes. The clamps lined up perfectly, and the cover rolls smooth as glass. I've had it through two rainstorms already, and my tools stayed bone dry.

Love the quick access when I need it
I haul landscaping equipment every day, and being able to roll this cover open in five seconds is a game-changer. No more fumbling with snaps or lifting heavy panels. Locks tight when I'm parked downtown.

Great cover, minor water seepage in heavy rain
The cover works exactly as described. I did notice a few drops of water inside after a serious downpour, but that's expected with a retractable design. My bed liner catches it, so no harm done. Overall very happy.

Low profile looks sharp on my Silverado
I was worried about the cover sitting too high, but it's barely noticeable from the side. The black finish matches my truck perfectly, and I still have full clearance for my bed racks.

No drilling required — huge plus for me
I lease my truck, so drilling holes was a deal-breaker. This clamp-on system is rock solid, and I can remove it in 20 minutes if I need to return the truck. Best tonneau cover I've owned.

Smooth operation even in freezing temps
I live in Minnesota, and this cover has rolled open and closed flawlessly through the winter. No sticking, no ice buildup. The lock cylinder hasn't frozen once. Really impressed with the build quality.

Good to know

Common questions about the A-Series XT cover

Yes, the A-Series XT is compatible with most spray-in bed liners. The clamp-on rail system adjusts to accommodate the added thickness of the liner coating. If you have an over-the-rail liner like a BedRug, the cover will also fit as long as the liner doesn't interfere with the side rail mounting area.

We recommend checking your specific truck model and bed liner combination in our fitment guide to confirm clearance before ordering.

The A-Series XT is weather-resistant, not fully waterproof. Rubber seals along the front and rear edges block most rain and snow, and the overlapping slats shed water toward the side rails. Drain channels then route runoff out of the bed.

In heavy downpours or when pressure washing, some water may seep past the seals, especially if your truck bed isn't perfectly level. We recommend using a bed mat or liner underneath the cover to catch any moisture that gets through.

Yes, the A-Series XT uses a clamp-on rail system that requires no drilling. The side rails attach to your truck's bed rails with adjustable clamps that compress against the rail surface. You tighten the clamps with a socket wrench, and the entire installation takes about 30 to 45 minutes with basic hand tools.

This makes the cover ideal for leased trucks or anyone who wants to preserve the bed's factory condition.

The A-Series XT is compatible with most fifth-wheel hitches as long as the hitch sits at least 12 inches behind the cab. This clearance allows the cover to roll open fully without hitting the hitch assembly. Some gooseneck hitches mount too far forward and will interfere with the cover's operation.

We include truck-specific compatibility notes in our fitment guides. If you're unsure whether your hitch will clear the cover, contact us with your truck year, make, model, and hitch brand before ordering.

The cover locks automatically when you slide it forward and engage the front latch. A keyed cylinder at the tailgate end controls the latch release. Insert your key, turn it to unlock, and the cover will disengage so you can roll it open.

When you close the cover, push it forward until you hear the latch click into place. The lock engages automatically at that point, securing the slats across the bed.

We back the A-Series XT with a three-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. This includes the aluminum slats, side rails, locking mechanism, and powder-coat finish. The warranty does not cover damage from accidents, misuse, or improper installation.

If you experience a warranty issue, contact us with your order details and photos of the problem. We'll arrange for repair or replacement parts as needed.

Yes, you can stop the cover at any point along its travel. If you're hauling something tall near the tailgate, roll the cover open just far enough to clear the cargo and leave it there. The slats hold their position without sagging or creeping forward.

For maximum cargo height clearance, roll the cover all the way open. It stows in a compact canister behind the cab, leaving the full bed length available from the bulkhead to the tailgate.
