Roll-N-Lock A-Series Manual Retractable Tonneau Cover
Our A-Series manual retractable tonneau cover delivers the security and weather protection you need without sacrificing easy access to your truck bed. The patented aluminum slat design retracts smoothly into a compact canister at the cab, giving you full bed access in seconds while maintaining a sleek, low-profile look.
We engineered this cover for drivers who want maximum versatility. The aluminum construction resists dents and UV damage, and the manual retraction system means no motors or electronics to maintain. Whether you're hauling work equipment during the week or loading gear for weekend adventures, the A-Series adapts to your needs while keeping your cargo secure and dry.
What makes the A-Series manual retractable system stand out

Installation & Bed Rail Compatibility
Stake Pocket & Factory Rail Integration
Our rail system works with factory stake pockets and most aftermarket bed rail configurations. The clamps adjust to accommodate different bed widths and rail heights, so you get a tight fit whether you have a standard bed or a wide-body configuration. We include all necessary hardware and spacers for common truck models from Ford, Chevy, GMC, Ram, Toyota, and Nissan. The adjustable mounting points that define the A-Series retractable platform carry over across every size variant, ensuring consistent installation whether you’re fitting a short bed or an 8-foot configuration.

Manual Retraction System & Daily Use
The manual retraction mechanism uses a pull-strap handle at the tailgate end that rolls the slats back into the canister. You can stop at any point to create a partial opening, and the integrated lock secures the cover wherever you choose. When you need full bed access, the entire cover retracts to within 12 inches of the cab.
We chose a manual system over motorized options for reliability and weight savings. There are no batteries to maintain, no motors to fail in extreme temperatures, and no wiring to route through your truck. The ball-bearing rollers in the side rails ensure smooth operation even when the slats are dusty or wet. If you prefer not to fully retract the cover, the locking rail system lets you open just the first few feet for smaller cargo while keeping the rest of the bed secured.
Weather Sealing & Cargo Protection
Each slat edge features a vinyl weather seal that compresses against the adjacent slat when the cover is closed, creating a barrier against rain and road spray. The side rails include rubber gaskets that seal against the bed rails, and the canister mounts flush against the cab with a foam seal to prevent water intrusion from the front.
We designed this system for real-world weather, not lab conditions. Light rain and snow stay out completely, and heavy downpours are blocked from direct cargo contact. The drain channels in the side rails route water toward the bed corners where it exits through weep holes. Your cargo stays dry in most conditions, though we always recommend tarps or bins for electronics and paper goods during severe storms.

Common Questions About the A-Series Retractable Cover
Yes, the manual retraction system locks at any position along the rail. You can open just the first couple of feet for smaller cargo while keeping the rest of the bed covered and secured. The integrated lock engages wherever you stop pulling the cover back, so you have complete control over how much bed space you expose.
The A-Series clamps to your bed rails and sits above the bed floor, so it's compatible with drop-in liners, spray-in coatings, and bare bed floors. The side rails mount to the top edge of your bed rails using adjustable clamps, so the liner material underneath doesn't affect installation. If you have an over-rail bed liner that raises the rail height, you may need spacer shims which we include in the hardware kit.
The canister extends approximately 10 to 12 inches from the back of the cab when the cover is fully retracted. This means you'll have full access to the rest of your bed length, minus that first foot. The canister height is 3 inches, so it doesn't interfere with tall cargo when the cover is open.
No, the entire system uses clamp-on mounting hardware that secures to your existing bed rails. You won't drill any holes in your truck bed or bed rails. The clamps tighten using bolts that thread through the rail system, and rubber pads protect your bed rail finish. If you remove the cover later, your truck bed remains unmodified.
The cover is compatible with most tailgate assist shock systems since it doesn't interfere with tailgate movement. Bed extenders that flip out when the tailgate is down will work, but you'll need to fully retract the cover first since it sits over the tailgate edge when closed. If your bed extender mounts inside the bed rails, check that it doesn't conflict with the cover's side rail position.
The vinyl laminate on each slat and the rubber seals in the rail system are designed to handle automated car washes and pressure washing. We recommend using touchless or soft-cloth car washes rather than brush-style washes to protect the powder coat finish. High-pressure spray won't force water through the slat seals as long as you're using normal car wash pressure, not industrial-grade equipment.
Individual slats can be replaced without removing the entire cover assembly. The slats slide out of the end caps once you remove the canister cover. We sell replacement slats individually, and the process takes about 30 minutes with basic tools. Most slat damage comes from extreme impacts that would compromise any cover material, but the aluminum design means dents don't spread or tear like fabric or vinyl would.
