Electric motor & control module
The XT’s motor assembly mounts inside the front canister and draws power from your truck’s 12V battery through a plug-and-play harness. We include a waterproof inline fuse and relay module that integrates with your existing electrical system — most installations connect to the third brake light circuit or an auxiliary power point.
You operate the cover using a dash-mounted rocker switch, your factory key fob (on compatible models), or the optional smartphone app. The motor’s torque-sensing clutch automatically stops if it encounters an obstruction, preventing damage to the slats or canister. Retraction speed is constant at roughly two inches per second, and the system draws less than 15 amps during operation.

Aluminum slat construction
Each slat measures 1.5 inches wide and spans the full width of your bed, interlocking with the next slat through a continuous hinge rail. We extrude the slats from 6000-series aluminum, then powder-coat them to resist UV fade and corrosion. The slat curtain flexes slightly when retracting around the canister drum, but locks rigid when extended — the same design principle our manual covers have used since 1999.
Weight distribution
The closed XT cover supports up to 300 pounds of evenly distributed weight. That’s enough for light cargo nets, tool bags, or a roof-top tent’s rear overhang (on compatible setups). Avoid point loads — standing directly on a single slat or stacking heavy equipment in one spot can bend the aluminum. For snow load in winter climates, clear accumulations over six inches to stay within the rated capacity.

If you run an aftermarket bedliner with tall side walls, measure the clearance between your bulkhead and the liner’s front edge — you need at least 14 inches of unobstructed space for the canister.

Yes. Every XT cover includes a manual override crank stored in the canister's rear end cap. Remove the cap, insert the crank into the motor's hex socket, and turn clockwise to retract or counterclockwise to extend the cover. The manual override bypasses the motor entirely and requires about two minutes of cranking to fully open or close a standard 6.5-foot bed.
The XT is compatible with most factory bed liners, spray-in coatings like LINE-X or Rhino Linings, and drop-in mats. The side rails clamp onto your bed's stake pockets, which sit above the liner surface. You need at least 14 inches of clearance between your bulkhead and any raised liner edges at the front of the bed to accommodate the canister. For sensitive cargo, use secondary waterproof containers inside the bed.
Yes. Individual slats are available as replacement parts through our online portal or authorized dealers. To replace a damaged slat, use the manual override crank to position the curtain so the damaged slat is accessible outside the canister. Remove the end caps from both side rails, slide out the damaged slat, and insert the new one. The process takes about 20 minutes per slat and requires no special tools beyond the included hex wrench.
